Jamal Adams is an American football safety for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at LSU, where he was a two-time consensus All-American and won the Jim Thorpe Award as the nation's top defensive back in 2016. Adams was drafted by the New York Jets with the sixth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
Personal Life
Adams was born in Lewisville, Texas, to George Adams and Alexis Adams. He has two older brothers, George Jr. and JaVon. Adams attended Hebron High School in Carrollton, Texas, where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He was a two-time All-State selection in football and was named the District 6-6A Defensive Player of the Year in 2012.
Adams is married to Kayla Adams. They have two children together.
College Career
Adams played college football at LSU for three seasons from 2014 to 2016. He started 34 of the 38 games he played in and recorded 215 tackles, 12.5 sacks, 23 pass breakups, and seven interceptions, including three pick-sixes.
As a junior in 2016, Adams won the Jim Thorpe Award as the nation's top defensive back. He was also a consensus All-American and was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Year.
NFL Career
Adams was drafted by the New York Jets with the sixth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. He started all 16 games as a rookie and recorded 83 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and two interceptions.
